
Prof. Justus Wamukoya

A scholar and practitioner in the field of Records and Archives Management, Prof. Wamukoya has carried out a wide range of consultancy and research work in records and archives management, and has widely published on the subject. He is the founder member and education advisor of the International Records Management Trust (IRMT). He has contributed immensely to good governance initiatives in Africa through his participation in records management improvement projects in various countries, including The Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Botswana and Kenya. He has conducted successful workshops on decongestion, appraisal and restructuring of records systems in all of the above named countries.
He is currently a Professor of Records & Archives Management in the Department of Library, Records Management and Information Studies, School of Information Sciences, Moi University, Kenya where he taught for many years before going to University of Botswana.
Prof. Wamukoya served as a senior lecturer in the Department of Library and Information Studies, University of Botswana, from August 2003 to July 2007. He is currently spearheading a project on “Establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Electronic Records Management” to be based in Arusha, Tanzania, sponsored by African Union and ESAMI.
